CAR SHOW TO BENEFIT INJURED OFFICERS

On Sunday, March 20, 2011, the Injured Police Officers’ Fund will host a car show at Sunset Park(Sunset and Eastern). Show hours are 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Car awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m.

The public is invited to attend this FREE event in support of local law enforcement. Displayed vehicles will include a wide variety of cars and trucks including vintage, originals, classics, hot rods, muscle cars, street rods, competition vehicles, and custom vehicles. There will also be classic police cars on display, as well as vehicles from local law enforcement agencies.

The event will include a raffle, a 50/50 drawing, prize raffles, food, and other vendors.

Admission to the event is free. Money is raised through car entries and raffles. Entries are still being accepted for all classic vehicles. The top 60 vehicles will receive awards including: dignitary, Sheriff’s picks, crowd pleasers, club participation, and best of show.

Please join police agencies including: LVMPD, NHP, NLVPD, CCSDPD, UNLVPD, CLVPD, Boulder City PD, Mesquite PD, Henderson PD, and Clark County Park Police in their support of this event.

The mission of the Injured Police Officers’ Fund is to help reduce the financial burden suffered by Police Officers and their families in the event of a line-of-duty injury or death by providing monetary assistance to these officers and their families.

LVMPD Hosts Graffiti Clean-Up

The LVMPD Northeast Area Command invites the public to participate in a graffiti clean-up. Paint and cleaning supplies will be provided to volunteers who come to the event to help improve the community.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 19, 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., in the area of Lake Mead and Marion. Parking will be available at Miller Elementary School at 4851 E. Lake Mead.

Please come properly dressed (hat, gloves, old T-shirt) to work with paint. Water and refreshments will be provided.

Please join officers from Northeast Area Command and volunteer to beautify the community. No reservation required.

February First Tuesday: CSI

Crime fighting isn’t always about guns and handcuffs. In many cases, tweezers and microscopes are our most valuable weapons.

On Tuesday, February 1, 2011, employees of the LVMPD Criminalistics Bureau will address the public as part of the First Tuesday program. Starting at 7 p.m., at each LVMPD area command, members of the Criminalistics Bureau will give a presentation on the real “CSI” and answer questions.

First Tuesday is an open house program that takes place on the First Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at LVMPD area commands. Anyone is welcome to attend. After discussing the assigned topic, citizens will be able to learn more about their neighborhood and meet their local police officers.

The Grandmother Scam is still around

If you get a call from a relative saying they're in jail and you to wire them money, the first thing to do is check to make sure it's really your relative.

Here's an email we received today:

Several weeks ago, News 3 ran a story about people calling up and pretending to be a grandchild who needed money right away and some grandparents sent the money before they realized it was a scam. Well, my ex-mother-in-law, just received a call just like that today. The caller asked her, "Grandma, guess who this is?" When my mother in law responded with my son's name, the person on the phone started crying and saying he had been arrested in Haiti (of all places) and needed her to wire some money ASAP so he could get out of jail. She got really upset and handed the phone to her daughter who figured out that it was not my son. Anyway, I know you just ran the story a month or so ago but in light of the fact that someone here in Vegas got one of those calls, I think it might be a good idea to run the story again if possible. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that this scam is still alive and well and targeting grandparents. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

On September 9, 2010, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say Illyan Golden became involved in a violent attack outside of a business located in the 900 block of West Owens. During this altercation Golden chassed the victim back inside of the business while brandishing an assault rifle. Golden he lost the gun during a fight, and fled the business and the area.

Based on this criminal activity Golden is wanted for:

Burglary with the use of a deadly weapon, and
Attempting to discharge a firearm from a vehicle.

Illyan Golden is a black male adult, 45 years of age, standing 5'11" tall and weighing approximately 218 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Golden uses numerous aliases including:

UFC Fight to Benefit Injured Police Officers’ Fund and Police Unity Tour

On December 11, 2010, Impact Syndicate will host a UFC 124 party and autograph signing (with UFC Fighter “Rampage”) to benefit the IPOF and Police Unity Tour. The event will be held at Cadillac Ranch in Town Square, 6593 Las Vegas Blvd.

First degree kidnaping.

He sometimes changes the order of his names, and has previously used the name Orozco Aleman Sergio. Orozco’s last known address was in the 2900 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North in North Las Vegas. Update: Davon Jones was arrested in Los Angeles on November 3, 2010. A spokesman from LVMPD says the caller who provided the anonymous tip said they saw Jones featured on "Manhunt Monday on Crime Tracker 3."

Metro is seeking the community's help locatin Davon Jones. He is a black male adult, 18 years of age, standing 6'4" tall and weighing approximately 210 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. He sometimes uses the middle name De’shan-Jason, and goes by the street name “King.” His last known address was in the 8100 block of Ivy Hollow.

Jones has numerous tattoo’s, including:

A web and a star on his right hand,
A king with a crown and the letter “K” on his left forearm,
A crest on his right forearm,
An outline of the State of California on the left side of his neck, and
The name “Annie” on his shoulder.

On June 29, 2009 Metro Police say Marc Anthony Eden was in the slot machine area of a Strip casino when he reached into a woman’s purse and removed her wallet. Eden then attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended and arrested on the charge of grand larceny. Eden was released on bail, and has failed to appear in court as required to answer this charge.

Metro seeks assistance in 2007 murder case

On April 28, 2007 at approximately 11:54 p.m., L.V.M.P.D. Patrol Officers responded to the intersection of Reno Ave. and Gypsum Reefs Street to investigate a report of a male lying in the roadway. Arriving officers and medical personnel located the victim and determined he was deceased from apparent trauma not related to a traffic accident. The Clark County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Byron Harris, a white male adult, 54 years of age, of Las Vegas.

At the time of the attack Harris was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, and was riding a yellow “beach cruiser” style bicycle.

Currently no suspects have been identified in this case, and detectives are seeking the public’s assistance.

On June 10, 2010, Las Vegas Metro Police say Derral Blackston became involved in a violent confrontation with his girlfriend. During this incident, police say Blackston punched and strangled her numerous times, at times picking her up off of the ground by her throat.

Felony domestic battery by strangulation.

Metro To Provide a Safe Halloween Experience

Metro wants young children to have a safe and fun Halloween.

This year Metro is hosting a Trunk-or-Treat event for the community on Sunday, October 31. The location will be Northeast Area Command, 3750 Cecile.

From 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. officers will have numerous squad cars and specialized vehicles lined up at the event. The cars will be decorated for Halloween, and there will be lots of music and good cheer. Children will be able to go car-to-car to collect candy and interact with police officers.

This is a great opportunity for people to come to an area command and meet the officers that police their community. It’s FREE!

According to LVMPD, Shane A. Lee is a fugitive from the State of Montana, where he is wanted on two outstanding warrants for:

Felony forgery and felony burglary and
Bail Jumping

Shane A. Lee is a white male adult, 32 years of age, standing 5'10" tall and weighing approximately 270 pounds with red hair and green eyes. Lee has the tattoo of a cross on his left arm. His last known address was an apartment complex in the 4500 block of Paradise. He is believed to be driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup, white in color, with Montana license plates 27-1754A.

Lee is known to currently be hiding in Las Vegas. Although his only local criminal history is an arrest for being a convicted person and failing to register, he has a violent past and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Manhunt Monday - Darrell Brown

According to LVMPD, on May 28, 2010 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Darrell Brown became angry while at the residence of his girlfriend, who was attempting to call the police and report a burglary in which Brown was thought to be the suspect. The argument turned into a violent domestic battery, during which Brown repeatedly attacked his victim, injuring her. Brown left the residence before officers arrived.

Because of this criminal activity Darrell Ramon Brown is wanted on outstanding warrants for:

Coercion, and
Battery, Domestic Violence.

Brown is also wanted by the United States Marshall’s Service on an unrelated arrest warrant for being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

Darrell Ramon Brown is a black male adult, 30 years of age, standing 6'5" tall and weighing approximately 260 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. He has the words “united we stand / divided we fall”, and either the picture of a scorpion or the word “scorpion” tattooed on his back. Brown sometimes goes by the alias of Darrell Metcalf, and has a street name of “Goofy”. His last known address was in the 1800 block of North Decatur Boulevard in Las Vegas.

Prior to this Brown’s criminal history included arrests for:

D.U.I. - Controlled Substance,
Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person,

Battery, domestic violence

Tirso Dominguez is a white male adult, 45 years of age, standing 5'10" tall and weighing approximately 160 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Shortly after 9:00 a.m. on March 9 of this year, Las Vegas Metro Police say Edward Camarillo entered a Northeast Las Vegas convenience store, simulated a weapon, and attempted to rob the store. When the clerk ordered the Camarillo to leave the store he fled on foot out the front door, stealing only candy as he went.

Because of this criminal activity Camarillo is wanted for:

Attempted robbery, and
Burglary,

He is also wanted for disorderly conduct, based on a separate, unrelated, incident.

Edward Camarillo is a Hispanic male adult, 20 y.o.a., standing 5'7" tall and weighing approximately 130 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.

He has a tattoo’s of:

A face on his left shoulder,
The word “Cholo” on his right forearm, and
The word “Chicalie” on his left forearm.

Camarillo’s last known address was in the 1800 block of Bartoli in Northeast Las Vegas.

Even though in this instance the suspect did not successfully complete his attempted crime, and actually stole only candy, his simulation of a weapon indicates a willingness to use violence. In all probability the next time he will actually have a weapon, which may result in violence against his victim.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section is investigating a murder and attempted murder which occurred at apartments located in the 3800 block of Wynn Road. On September 19th, 2010 at 12:25 a.m., a group of males were walking on Viking Road, west of Wynn Road when they were approached by two male suspects asking about a party. A short time later the suspects confronted the group a second time. At this time one of the suspects produced a firearm and began shooting, striking a 19 year old male and an unarmed security guard. The security guard suffered non life threatening injuries. The 19 year old male expired from his wounds.

The suspects are described as two black males, 16-20 years of age, wearing red clothing. "Bruno Mars" arrested in Las Vegas

On September 19 , 2010 at approximately 1:50 a.m., officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the Hard Rock Hotel Casino to investigate the report of a Latin male adult being detained by hotel security.

The subject was determined to be Peter Hernandez, a Hip-Hop performer whose stage name is “Bruno Mars.” He was found to be in possession of 2.6 grams of “white powdery substance” believed to be cocaine.

Hernandez was arrested for Possession Controlled Substance-Cocaine, transported to the Clark County Detention Center, and booked accordingly. After the booking process, Hernandez was released to his own recognizance at approximately 7:45 a.m.

According to Las Vegas Metro Police, on June 19, 2010 Jacqwan Rankin and two accomplices committed an armed residential robbery in Northeast Las Vegas. One of the victims heard a knock at the back door, and when he responded saw a handgun being pointed at him through the partially open door. When he tried to shut the door the suspects forced it open, entered the residence, and robbed the occupants at gunpoint.

Because of this criminal activity Rankin is wanted for:

Conspiracy to commit robbery,
Burglary with the use of a deadly weapon,
Robbery with a deadly weapon

Rankin is also wanted on two different warrants for

CARRY CONCEALED WEAPON PERMIT HOLDERS FORUM

Las Vegas Metro Police say members of the Miller family have been involved in an ongoing pattern of criminal activity in both Henderson and the South part of Las Vegas. Police say family members enter big-box department stores and other retail outlets in groups. After one or more family members distract store employees, others remove expensive items such as electronics. In some cases young juvenile family members have been utilized in these crimes.

Johnny Miller

Johnny Miller is a white male adult, 58 y.o.a., standing 5'10" tall and weighing approximately 220 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Miller sometimes uses the last names of Reeves and Laurant, and sometimes uses the middle name of Woren. His last known address was in the 10000 block of South Maryland Parkway.

US Marshalls catch sex crime fugitive from California in Las Vegas

Joshua Willard, 19, a major fugitive wanted on state charges in California for rape was arrested in the Las Vegas valley this morning by members of the U.S. Marshals led fugitive task force Nevada FIST. (Fugitive Investigative Strike Team.)

Willard was being sought on a warrant issued in San Diego, charging him with rape, robbery, and assault. The charges stem from a September 1, 2010, incident in which Willard is believed to have lured a 27-year-old mentally handicapped woman away from the downtown bus station. The victim suffered serious injuries in the attack.

Willard was located and taken into custody at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Sahara Ave. and Paradise Blvd. The arrest was a result of an ongoing joint investigation consisting of investigators from both San Diego and Las Vegas. Willard is currently awaiting extradition back to California at the Clark County Detention Center.

“This arrest serves as both a firm warning to criminals and fugitives from other jurisdictions seeking safe haven in Las Vegas, and a continued declaration of service to the honest, hard working, and law abiding citizens of our communities throughout the valley,” said District of Nevada U.S. Marshal Christopher Hoye III. “The men and women of all law enforcement in Las Vegas will continue to work vigilantly in removing such criminals from our streets in order to make this city a much safer place to work, play, and live.”

Nevada FIST is a permanent task force that brings together the resources and expertise of state, local, and federal agencies in a coordinated effort to arrest dangerous and violent fugitives. Henderson Police seek possible molestation victims

Henderson Police detectives are looking for additional information in connection with a child molestation case.

Detectives arrested Marlowe Fuller, 49, of Las Vegas, on Aug. 27 on a charge of sexual assault of a child under 14 years old. Fuller is accused of touching a 6-year-old girl at her Henderson home while he was there to repair an air conditioner.

During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered evidence leading them to believe there could be additional victims who have not come forward. Fuller is the owner and sole operator of SOS Repair, an air conditioning repair service and may have had access to homes with young children.
A search warrant was executed at his home and detectives found a drawer in a dresser in the master bedroom full of young girls’ underwear, skirts and girls’ bikini tops and bottoms. The clothing appeared to have been worn.

Metro seeks man who attacked taxi driver

On August 24, 2010, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the suspect pictured above robbed a cab driver in the area of South Las Vegas Blvd and Charleston. The suspect entered the cab, requested to be taken to the 1100 block of South Las Vegas Blvd. Once the cab reached the destination, the suspect asked the cab driver if he had change for a fifty. Once the cab driver pulled out the change, the suspect held a knife to the victims throat and demanded money. The suspect grabbed the money and fled eastbound.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-29 years old, approximately 5'11", 180 lbs, with black hair. Manhunt Monday update and continuing search for drug suspect

Metro Police are still searching for Arturo Pintado-Lopez.

Back in February, Crime Tracker 3 told you about two brothers suspected of trafficking in methamphetamine and cocaine. On February 22, 2010, our Manhunt Monday report focused on Saul Partida-Ventura and Arturo Pintado-Lopez.

After that report, Metro immediatly received a valuable tip, but it took until August 26th for Metro to finally catch up with Saul Partida-Ventura. At first they were not sure they had the right person, because Partida-Ventura had apparently had a procedure to remove a growth on his nose between the previouis arrest and the time of his capture in August.

Manhunt Monday - Hilton Hopkinson and Jessica Pinzon

On June 29, 2010, police say Hilton Hopkinson and an accomplice, Jessica Pinzon, were part of a gang related homicide in Hollywood, California. Hopkinson fired multiple rounds into a passing vehicle driven by the victim. As the victim drove away Hopkinson kept firing, narrowly missing three other occupants of the vehicle. The victim died from his injuries, and Hopkinson and Pinzon are currently wanted for Murder.

Hilton Hopkinson is a Hispanic male adult, 18 years of age, standing 6'1" tall and weighing approximately 190 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. He sometimes goes by the street name “El Demente.” Police say Hopkinson is a member of a violent California street gang who call themselves “Mara Salvatrucha” or “MS-13".

Jessica Pinzon is a Hispanic female adult, 31 years of age, standing 4'11" tall and weighing approximately 170 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. She sometimes goes by the street names “Dreamer” and "L.A. Dreamer”, and has a tattoo on the back, left side, of her neck.

Police say both Hopkinson and Pinzon are known to be in the Las Vegas area. They should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. According to Metro Police, on March 6, 2010, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Antonio Daniel Alvarez and an accomplice committed a violent home invasion robbery in the Southeast part of Las Vegas. During this crime their victim was beaten and held captive, while the suspects ransacked the residence stealing numerous items. Metro’s investigation identified Alvarez as one of the suspects in this crime.

Antonio Daniel Alvarez is currently wanted for:

Conspiracy to commit robbery,

Invasion of a home,
Burglary, and
Kidnapping, first degree.

On September 17, 2009, Las Vegas Metro Police say Davion Cole became involved in an altercation with his live-in girlfriend. During this incident he pushed several times, then fled the area in her vehicle. Cole later returned the vehicle to the victims apartment complex, and then fled again before officers could arrive.

Because of this incident Cole is wanted for:

Battery, domestic violence.

Cole may have fled the scene of that crime because he is also wanted on other warrants including:

Update: After our story on Monday, Metro received information that Aleman was arrested in Florida. Online reports found by News 3 indicated Aleman was arrested in Key Largo, FL in October of 2009. Online records do not show him as an inmate at the Monroe County, FL jail or in the Florida Corrections System. We are unable to report his current location.

On the morning of October 21, 2008, Metro Police say Isidro Aleman and his wife became involved in a violent domestic dispute at their home, located in the 1200 block of Gary Street in Southeast Las Vegas. During this confrontation Aleman got into the couples S.U.V and attempted to run over his wife. While doing this he also ran over a fire hydrant, shearing the hydrant off at it’s base, and coming to rest on top of it.

Because of these criminal actions Isidro Aleman is wanted for:

Battery with a deadly weapon.

Responding Metro Patrol officers determined the victim had interrupted a burglary in progress. Police identified Orlando Suarez-Perez as the suspect in this crime. He is currently wanted on outstanding felony warrants for:

Burglary, and
Grand larceny.

Orlando Suarez-Perez is a hispanic male adult, 20 years of age, standing 5'7" tall and weighing approximately 142 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. He sometimes uses the last name of only Suarez or of Perez. His last known address was in the 3000 block of Lake Mead Drive in Las Vegas.

Sometime during the daytime hours of Tuesday, February 9, 2010, a home located in the area of Buffalo Drive and Washington Avenue in Northwest Las Vegas was burglarized. Numerous items, including various electronic appliances were taken, and Metro’s investigation identified Helen Maria Gober as the suspect.

Helen Gober is a hispanic female adult, 31 years of age, standing 5'7" tall and weighing approximately 270 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Gober’s last known address was in the 2200 block of West Bonanza Road in Las Vegas.

Metro to Offer Free Disaster Preparedness Training To Community Leaders

What would you do if there were a large-scale disaster?

That is a question that Metro wants community leaders to know how to answer. On Saturday, June 26, 2010, Metro and the National Sheriff's Association (NSA) are offering free disaster preparedness training to community leaders.

The program is part of the NSA's All-Hazards Homeland Security Initiative. The all-day event will include a series of activities to engage participants in creating collaborative partnerships that can assist them in times of crisis. Training will include information about disaster kits, community resource databases, crisis response, and terrorism awareness. This training is for people NOT already trained as a first responder.

Participants will include neighborhood watch captains, church leaders, civic group leaders, Metro volunteers, and more. At this time there are only a few seats left. Reservations are required. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Applications Sought to Fill Vacancies on the Metro Police Citizen Review Board

hose who think they can objectively review Internal Affairs investigations and complaints filed against Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department peace officers and corrections officers are encouraged to apply to serve on the 25-member Citizen Review Board.

The Citizen Review Board is accepting applications through Aug. 30 from those eligible to serve in the volunteer, non-paying positions.

To be eligible, applicants must be residents of unincorporated Clark County or the city of Las Vegas, cannot have any felony convictions, cannot be an elected official, cannot be a peace officer or former peace officer employed by Metro, or a close relative of a current or former officer. Applicants do not necessarily need to possess any police or investigative skills but must be objective in their work on the board.

Potential members must have a flexible schedule and all members who are selected must complete two mandatory training sessions each year, attend the Citizen Police Academy and conduct a police ride-along.

Applications may be printed from the Citizen’s Review Board website at www.citizenreviewboard.com and must be received by Aug. 30 for consideration for the coming term, which begins Jan. 3, 2011 and ends Jan. 2, 2014. The Clark County Commission and the Las Vegas City Council each appoint half the members of the board. Manhunt Monday - Michael Reiger

Update: Michael Reiger was arrested on Saturday, July 3.

According to a LVMPD spokesman, Metro's Fugitive Detail found out that Reiger was "aware" that he had been featured on Manhunt Monday. A tip to police led to information on Reiger's location. According to Metro, as police were moving in, Reiger ran. He's then accused of coming after an officer with a knife. A Metro spokeman says a Taser was used to bring Reiger under control. He was then booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He is the 68th Manhunt Monday suspect to be located.

In February of this year Metro Police say Michale Rodney Reiger entered the home of a physically disabled individual in the Northwest part of Las Vegas, attacking and severely beating the victim before robbing him.

Because of this latest crime Reiger is wanted on outstanding felony warrants charging him with;

Burglary,
Robbery, and
Battery with substantial bodily harm.

Michael Rodney Reiger is a white male adult, 41 years of age, standing 5'10" tall and weighing approximately 190 lbs. with dark blond hair and brown eyes. Reiger sometimes reverses his first and middle names, uses the middle name of “Sean” and changes the spelling of his last name to “Rieger.” Reiger’s last known address was in the 6800 block of Calella Drive in Southwest Las Vegas.

Update: Vincent Mitchell was captured on Tuesday, June 15 after a tip from a News 3 viewer.

In the early morning hours of June 9, 2006, Metro officers say Vincent Phillip Mitchell and at least one accomplice committed a violent home invasion robbery in Arcata, California. During this crime one of the victims was tied up and ultimately shot before managing to escape. Vincent Phillip Mitchell is currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for Kidnaping in connection with this incident.

Following this crime Mitchell fled from California to Nevada. His last known address was in the 10000 block of Vickers Street in Southwest Las Vegas, and it is believed he is still hiding out in the Las Vegas area.

Vincent Phillip Mitchell is considered armed and dangerous.

In the early morning hours of April 1, 2010, Metro Police say Lotoa Toalepai became involved in a violent domestic dispute with his girlfriend, and mother of three of his children, in their apartment in the southwest part of Las Vegas. The argument continued for several hours, with Toalepai physically attacking her several times. During one of the attacks police say Toalepai stole money and other items from his victims purse. Neighbors heard her screams for help and called the police, however Toalepai fled the residence before the arrival of officers.

Because of this latest crime Lotoa Toalepai is currently wanted for:

Metro seeks sexual assault suspect

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Detail is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the person in this sketch. In the early morning hours on May 30, 2010, in the Downtown area of the valley, an adult female was the victim of sexual assault when she was assaulted by a Hispanic Male Adult. The suspect was described as 24-26 years old, 5’10”-6’0”, brown hair, brown eyes, last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, dark blue jeans and a blue bandana on his head. The suspect had very distinct braids down the middle of his back, was clean shaven and had diamond earrings in both ears.

Corey Terrell Rowe is a black male adult, 21 years old., standing 5'7" talland weighing approximately 153 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Rowe has tattoo on his left wrist of the four letters KKKK, and may possibly be associated with a local criminal gang. Rowe’s last known address was in the 4400 block of Shalimar Avenue in Las Vegas.

Rowe is currently wanted on five separate warrants stemming from five separate criminal acts.

On July 29, 2008, Metro Police say Rowe was involved in the attempted murder of a fellow gang member in the 3700 block of Glen Avenue in Southeast Las Vegas, and is wanted for Ex-Felon / Prohibited person in possession of a firearm in connection with that crime.

On January 4, 2009 Metro says Rowe and several accomplices kidnaped and robbed a victim in the Northwest part of Las Vegas, eventually forcing him to strip naked before taking all of his possessions. Rowe is wanted for Conspiracy to commit a crime in connection with this event.

And Metro accuses Rowe of domestic violence crimes on three separate occasions; June 8, 2009, June 30, 2009, and again on August 5, 2009 Rowe severely beat his live-in girlfriend. On one of the occasions Rowe attempted to strangle her, and on another he produced a handgun and threatened her. Because of these crimes Rowe is wanted for:

On April 1, 2010, Metro was called to the area near the intersection of East Carey Avenue and Nellis Boulevard to investigate a reported shooting. An unknown white male adult had fired an unknown type firearm into a white compact vehicle, severely injuring a passenger. That victim was transported to an area hospital, where he died a few days later.

An investigation into this crime has led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Billy Louis Pattillo, charging him with murder with a deadly weapon.

It is believed Pattillo travels between Las Vegas and Pahrump, and may be attempting to hide out in either city. Billy Louis Pattillo should be considered armed and dangerous. Billy Louis Pattillo is a white male adult, 28 y.o.a., standing 5'7" tall and weighing approximately 130 lbs. with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Pattillo has numerous scars and tattoo’s including:

MetroPCS and Nevada Child Seekers Offer Free Fingerprinting Services for Las Vegas Children

Approximately 8,000 children are reported missing each year in Nevada, according to the Nevada Missing Children’s Clearinghouse, Nevada Office of the Attorney General. To help prevent this statistic from growing, MetroPCS and Nevada Child Seekers will provide free identification services for Las Vegas families in select MetroPCS stores.

On Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22, children will receive digital fingerprints and photo IDs from trained, police-screened volunteers with Nevada Child Seekers, a non-profit organization dedicated to locating missing children. Parents will be supplied with child identification forms and safety information to raise awareness about and help prevent the abduction and exploitation of children.

Metro has joined forces with the South Point Hotel to promote safer communities.
South Central Area Command will host a Spring Safety Fair at the South Point Hotel and Casino, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd., on May 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fair is an effort to give the public helpful safety information. Vin-etching, child ID, and shred-it are just a few of the services that will be made available to attendees. Information about pool safety, auto theft, and other crime prevention will also be available.

Juarez was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, however following her release she failed to appear in court to answer the charges. Brown has scars on his left arm and right hand. He also has several tattoo’s including:

A skull and a Crown on his right arm,
The word “brown” on his chest,
The words “thug passion” on his back.

Brown’s criminal history includes previous arrests for:

Burglary,
Conspiracy to commit burglary,
Possession of stolen property, and
Grand Larceny

Metro to Host 5K for Peacekeepers’ Kids

The men and women of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have joined forces with the Police Athletic League (PAL) to create the inaugural 5K run for peacekeepers’ kids.

The event is a fund-raiser, with 100% of the proceeds going to the children of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 8:00 a.m. The race will start and finish at the Police Memorial Park located at 3250 Metro Academy Way, with a barbeque to follow.

The cost of registration is $40.00 which includes a commemorative T-shirt. The same T-shirts will be sold on race day for $20.00.

Southern Nevada has had an unprecedented number of line-of-duty deaths in the past 12 months. The Department hopes for a good turnout in support of the children of those who gave all.

Metro and Clark County to Provide Resources for Safe Summer Fun

The school year is almost over and Metro is encouraging parents to start planning summer activities for their children.

On Thursday, May 6, 2010, Metro’s Enterprise Area Command, numerous County agencies, and County Commissioner Susan Brager will present Summer Fun and Safety Night. The event will take place at Desert Breeze Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Road, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

This event is intended to provide parents with information on a variety of summer activities for their children. There will be numerous hands-on demonstrations, as well as information about local summer camps, programs, and activities.

Organizations providing information at the event are: Clark County Parks and Recreation, Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas, Opportunity Village, Nevada PEP, S.A.F.E. House, Fencing Academy of Nevada, Las Vegas Robotics Camp, Mad Science of Las Vegas, Invent Now Kids, and Kempo Self Defense Institute. There will also be presentations on crime prevention, personal safety and water safety.

Calling All Carts: Charity Golf Tourney for Injured Police Officers' Fund

The Injured Police Officers’ Fund (IPOF) will host a charity golf tournament on Saturday, May 22, 2010. This event will take place at the Palms Golf Course in Mesquite, Nevada.

The entry fee of $125 includes a round of golf, cart, awards luncheon, and cash prizes.

The CasaBlanca Resort will provide discounted rooms to participants.

All proceeds will benefit the Injured Police Officers’ Funds, which provides assistance to family members of local law enforcement officers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty.

Manhunt Monday - Keith Stewart

Keith Andre Stewart is a black male adult, 25 years of age, standing 5'11" tall and weighing approximately 160 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address was in the 3100 block of Soaring Gulls Drive in the West part of Las Vegas. Stewart is a repeat offender who has victimized numerous individuals.

On June 16, 2008, Metro Police say Stewart and a male accomplice rang the doorbell of an occupied residence in the Northwest part of Las Vegas. The homeowner looked through the peephole and did not recognize the men, and decided to not answer the door. Instead, the victim quietly went into another room of the house and began to call the police. As the call was being made the homeowner heard a noise in another part of the residence, and discovered the suspects had forcibly entered the home. The suspects fled on foot, and were captured a short time later by arriving patrol officers.

Stewart was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He was released on bail a short time later, and has failed to appear in court as required. Because of this criminal activity Stewart is currently wanted for:

Burglary, and
Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.

On January 9, 2009, Metro Police say Stewart and a female accomplice rang the doorbell of a different home in the same general area of Northwest Las Vegas. Once again the occupant did not recognize the suspects, and simply returned to the upstairs portion of the home. A short time later the two suspects broke a rear window and entered the home, stealing a firearm. Arriving patrol officers quickly located the fleeing suspects, and again arrested Stewart.

Because the warrants from Stewart’s previous crimes had not yet been issued, he was once again released on bail, and again failed to appear in court as required. Because of this most recent criminal history, Stewart is wanted on additional warrants charging him with:

Burglary,
Home Invasion, and
Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.

Stewart’s criminal history includes other arrests for:

Possession of burglary tools,
Home invasion,
Attempted grand larceny, and
Conspiracy to commit home invasion.

May First Tuesday: History of Clark County Policing

In the spirit of Police Week activities, the May 4th First Tuesday program will celebrate the history of policing in Clark County. A brief video of our history will be shown at each First Tuesday location. Additionally, each area command will have a “seasoned” Metro employee (or retired employee) to share stories.

The LVMPD First Tuesday program is an open house-style event that takes place on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. During the First Tuesday program the public is invited to come to any area command, meet the officers who protect their neighborhoods, and learn about the various aspects of policing.

Manhunt Monday - Jesus Mungia

On July 2, 2008 Metro Homicide Detectives responded to the 6700 block of Mangrum Circle in the Southwest part of Las Vegas. There detectives discovered an Asian female deceased in the rear seat of a vehicle, suffering from apparent blunt force trauma to the head. Metro’s investigation determined the deceased female was the victim of domestic violence, and identified Jesus Roberto Mungia as the suspect in this crime.

Jesus Roberto Mungia is a Hispanic male adult, 32 yeas of age, standing 5'8" tall and weighing approximately 190 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his abdomen, chest, neck, and both arms. Mungia’s last known address was in the 4200 block of Rochelle in Las Vegas.

Prior to this event Mungia has no known record within Metro’s jurisdiction.

Mungia is currently wanted for one count each of:

First Degree Kidnaping with a Deadly Weapon and
Murder with a Deadly Weapon

In mid-March, the Crime Tracker 3 team was first to report on a series of robberies in the western part of the Las Vegas valley, mostly west of I-15. Last week, Metro caught five suspects they've connected to some of those robberies. In many of those cases, citizens had left doors or windows unlocked, and the crooks took advantage. Now, with the weather getting warmer, history shows that crimes of all types will rise. Metro hopes the news of the arrest in the high-profile robbery string does not lead to people putting their guard down. Crime Tracker 3 spoke with Lt. Chris Jones of the Northwest Area Command.

Children of Las Vegas Celebrated at New Festival

Manhunt Monday - Clifford Halbert

According to LVMPD officers, in the early morning hours of September 17, 2007, Clifford John Halbert and two accomplices committed an armed robbery of all night drugstore in the West part of Las Vegas. The suspects were caught and arrested for the crime, however Halbert failed to appear in court to answer the charges.

He is currently wanted on a no bail felony warrant for Robbery and Conspiracy.

Clifford Halbert is a white male adult, 21 years of age, standing 6'0" tall and weighing approximately 150 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. His last known address was in the 10200 block of Falling Needle Avenue in Las Vegas.
Halbert’s previous criminal history includes arrests for narcotics relations violations. He is known to have been violent in the past, and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Most “Manhunt Monday” subjects are wanted criminals who have already committed crimes within Metro’s jurisdiction. This weeks subject is a known criminal from outside of Nevada, who has, again, returned to our area.

Rick Ballard is a wanted person, and Metro wants to return him to California on those warrants before he has the opportunity to offend within our community.

Ballard is a white male adult, 49 years of age, standing 5'7" tall and weighing approximately 272 lbs. with brown hair and green eyes.

He sometimes uses the names of:

Richard Oliver Ballard,
Rick Albert Ballar,
Rickey Allen Ballare,
Rickey Michael Deancelo,
Rickey Deancelo, and
Richard Allen Rowe.

Metro Police say Ballard is a convicted sex offender from the State of California who is currently wanted for parole violation. In 2008 he was arrested in Las Vegas as a “Fugitive from Justice” on the same charge, and Metro has information he has once again returned to the Southern Nevada area.

In 2008 Ballard resided in the 3700 block of Swenson Street, but he could be anywhere.

Koecher search to scour areas near Henderson Executive Airport

Henderson, Nev. – A team of nearly three dozen searchers will comb areas near the Henderson Executive Airport Saturday morning, April 10, in an effort to find Steven T. Koecher, who was last seen on Dec. 13, 2009.
Koecher’s abandoned car was found four days later in a cul-de-sac in Henderson’s Sun City Anthem area. He had traveled there from his home in St. George, Utah, but the purpose for his trip remains unknown.
A number of tips, many anonymous, have been received by police and other investigators in response to a campaign placing Koecher’s photograph on Anderson Dairy milk cartons, plus a $10,000 reward for information announced by Koecher’s family on Feb. 26. Among the clues were possible sightings at a Las Vegas Best Buy store and at a Home Depot store, a possible link to a body found by police in Sacramento, Calif., and a tip to check areas south of the Henderson Executive Airport.
Henderson Police detectives have checked many of these leads but have not been able to establish a clear link to the missing Steven Koecher. Video surveillance tapes obtained by police from Best Buy were both inconclusive and lacking in clarity. Sacramento police detectives also confirmed that the body of a young man found near that city has been positively linked to another case and is not Steven Koecher.
St. George Police detectives have also met with West Valley, Utah, Police regarding their investigation of the missing Susan Cox Powell. An examination of information in both of these cases indicates they are not connected.

Saturday’s search will begin at 8 a.m. and is expected to last about three hours. Searchers will be on foot, as well as on all-terrain vehicles. The attached image is a map of the area near the Henderson Executive Airport. The area to be searched is bounded by four yellow push pins shown on the map.

Shoots & Ladders Dodge Ball Tournament

Shoots & Ladders is a dodge ball tournament featuring teams from police, fire, and emergency services. Tickets for spectators are only $2.00! Proceeds from the event will go to Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy, a high school that focuses on educating students who wish to go into public service careers.

Report claims Nevada is the most dangerous state, again

A new version of an annual analysis of FBI Crime data by CQ Press shows that Nevada is ranked "least favorably."
I'm very suspicious of this kind of analysis. First, combining crime reports by state does not make a great deal of sense. Crime in New York City isn't really strongly related to crime in Buffalo, for example. Since so much of the population is focused in Clark County, a look at crime here in Nevada is really a look at state-wide crime is almost like a diluted look at crime in metro Las Vegas.
When you compare the states, Nevada comes in with the highest crime rate for this year's report. Because of reporting delays, this year's report is based on 2009 crime reports. Crime Tracker 3's weekly look at crime trends, on the other hand, uses data that is current to the last complete week (i.e. our statistics are between one and seven days delayed, depending on the day of the week of our report.)
It should be noted that the FBI, which compiles the data CQ Press uses to generate its reports, discourages the use of the statistics to make "rankings." The FBI is also working on a more thorough system to collect crime data beyond the ten crime categories tracked in the Uniform Crime Reports.

Manhunt Monday - Marc Dimagiba

Las Vegas Metro Police say on January 18 of this year Dimagiba went to the residence of his ex-girlfriend, which was located in the 8000 block of Rock Port Circle in the Northwest part of Las Vegas. Dimagiba initially entered the residence through a rear window, and then entered the garage area. When the residents locked the door between the garage and the house Dimagiba broke down the door and violently assaulted his ex-girlfriend. When he realized the police had been called, Dimagiba fled the residence.

Based on these criminal acts Dimagiba is currently wanted on felony warrants for:

Home invasion and
Burglary

Marc Dimagiba is an Asian male adult, 29 years of age, standing 5'10" tall and weighing approximately 180 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.

He sometimes uses the middle name of Angelo, or the middle initial “A”, and sometimes spells his first name “Mark”. Dimagiba has an 8" scar on his left forearm. His previous addresses include the 500 block of Playa Linda Place and the 5400 block of Latigo Street, both in Las Vegas.

Marc Dimagiba’s criminal history includes arrests for:

Obstructing a Police Officer,
Convicted person - failure to change address,
Possession of an altered firearm without a serial number,
Trafficking in a controlled substance,
Possession of stolen property,
Numerous traffic related charges,
Possession of drug paraphernalia,
Possession of a controlled substance [numerous arrests], and

Auto burglaries are a concern for the entire Las Vegas Valley, and the northeast in particular. When examining the numbers, Crime Tracker 3 found out there have been 198 auto burglaries in the Northeast Area Command from January 1 to March 27. There were 196 auto burglaries in the same time period in 2009. That amounts to a 1% increase. Back in February, the numbers were between six and seven percent higher than in 2009. The bottom line is -- auto burglary is on the decline. Crime Tracker 3 discussed the trend with Northeast Area Captain Chris Darcy.
