Manhunt Monday - Helen Gober

Sometime during the daytime hours of Tuesday, February 9, 2010, a home located in the area of Buffalo Drive and Washington Avenue in Northwest Las Vegas was burglarized. Numerous items, including various electronic appliances were taken, and Metro’s investigation identified Helen Maria Gober as the suspect.


Helen Gober is a hispanic female adult, 31 years of age, standing 5'7" tall and weighing approximately 270 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Gober’s last known address was in the 2200 block of West Bonanza Road in Las Vegas.

As a result of this crime Helen Maria Gober is wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for burglary.

Prior to this crime, Gobers criminal history included arrests for:
  • False information to a police officer, and
  • Numerous traffic and vehicle related offenses.

Metro to Offer Free Disaster Preparedness Training To Community Leaders

What would you do if there were a large-scale disaster?

That is a question that Metro wants community leaders to know how to answer. On Saturday, June 26, 2010, Metro and the National Sheriff's Association (NSA) are offering free disaster preparedness training to community leaders.

The program is part of the NSA's All-Hazards Homeland Security Initiative. The all-day event will include a series of activities to engage participants in creating collaborative partnerships that can assist them in times of crisis. Training will include information about disaster kits, community resource databases, crisis response, and terrorism awareness. This training is for people NOT already trained as a first responder.

Participants will include neighborhood watch captains, church leaders, civic group leaders, Metro volunteers, and more. At this time there are only a few seats left. Reservations are required. No walk-ins will be accepted.

West Las Vegas Residents Invited To Safe Summer Nights Celebrations

Community residents are invited to participate in three Safe Summer Nights celebrations that will celebrate the season and give residents the opportunity to get to know each other while enjoying free entertainment and food. Join Las Vegas Ward 5 Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow, neighbors, face painters and a DJ for music, children’s games, refreshments and fun. Free hot dogs, chips and chilled water will be served (while supplies last).

Area residents also are invited to learn about summer youth activities, health services, community safety, money management programs, adult education opportunities, living assistance and much more at these summer events. Safe Summer Nights events will be held at the following locations:

  • Thursday, June 24, 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Matt Kelly Elementary School, located at 1900 N. J St.
  • Thursday, July 22, 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Matt Kelly Elementary School.

Applications Sought to Fill Vacancies on the Metro Police Citizen Review Board

hose who think they can objectively review Internal Affairs investigations and complaints filed against Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department peace officers and corrections officers are encouraged to apply to serve on the 25-member Citizen Review Board.

The Citizen Review Board is accepting applications through Aug. 30 from those eligible to serve in the volunteer, non-paying positions.

To be eligible, applicants must be residents of unincorporated Clark County or the city of Las Vegas, cannot have any felony convictions, cannot be an elected official, cannot be a peace officer or former peace officer employed by Metro, or a close relative of a current or former officer. Applicants do not necessarily need to possess any police or investigative skills but must be objective in their work on the board.

Potential members must have a flexible schedule and all members who are selected must complete two mandatory training sessions each year, attend the Citizen Police Academy and conduct a police ride-along.

Applications may be printed from the Citizen’s Review Board website at www.citizenreviewboard.com and must be received by Aug. 30 for consideration for the coming term, which begins Jan. 3, 2011 and ends Jan. 2, 2014. The Clark County Commission and the Las Vegas City Council each appoint half the members of the board. At this moment there are two vacancies for the coming term – one county and one city seat on the board.

Manhunt Monday - Michael Reiger

Update: Michael Reiger was arrested on Saturday, July 3.
According to a LVMPD spokesman, Metro's Fugitive Detail found out that Reiger was "aware" that he had been featured on Manhunt Monday. A tip to police led to information on Reiger's location. According to Metro, as police were moving in, Reiger ran. He's then accused of coming after an officer with a knife. A Metro spokeman says a Taser was used to bring Reiger under control. He was then booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He is the 68th Manhunt Monday suspect to be located. 


In February of this year Metro Police say Michale Rodney Reiger entered the home of a physically disabled individual in the Northwest part of Las Vegas, attacking and severely beating the victim before robbing him.

Because of this latest crime Reiger is wanted on outstanding felony warrants charging him with;
  • Burglary,
  • Robbery, and
  • Battery with substantial bodily harm.

Michael Rodney Reiger is a white male adult, 41 years of age, standing 5'10" tall and weighing approximately 190 lbs. with dark blond hair and brown eyes. Reiger sometimes reverses his first and middle names, uses the middle name of “Sean” and changes the spelling of his last name to “Rieger.” Reiger’s last known address was in the 6800 block of Calella Drive in Southwest Las Vegas.

Reiger has a violent criminal history dating back to 1987, including arrests for:
  • Grand larceny of a firearm,
  • Battery with substantial bodily harm,
  • Robbery, multiple counts,
  • Parole violation,
  • Possession of stolen property, multiple counts,
  • Burglary with a deadly weapon,
  • Possession of a credit card without the owners consent,
  • Hit and run,
  • Multiple traffic and driving related offenses,
  • Contempt of court,
  • Possession of a stolen vehicle,
  • Obstructing a Police Officer,
  • Burglary,
  • Gross lewdness,
  • Possession of a controlled substance,
  • First degree kidnaping with a weapon, multiple counts, and
  • Robbery with a deadly weapon.

Manhunt Monday - Vincent Mitchell


Update: Vincent Mitchell was captured on Tuesday, June 15 after a tip from a News 3 viewer.

In the early morning hours of June 9, 2006, Metro officers say Vincent Phillip Mitchell and at least one accomplice committed a violent home invasion robbery in Arcata, California. During this crime one of the victims was tied up and ultimately shot before managing to escape. Vincent Phillip Mitchell is currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for Kidnaping in connection with this incident.

Following this crime Mitchell fled from California to Nevada. His last known address was in the 10000 block of Vickers Street in Southwest Las Vegas, and it is believed he is still hiding out in the Las Vegas area.

Vincent Phillip Mitchell is considered armed and dangerous.

Vincent Phillip Mitchell is a black male adult, 26 years of age, standing 5'11" tall and weighing approximately 190 lbs. with black hair, brown eyes, and no known scars, marks or tattoo’s.

His previous criminal history in the Las Vegas area includes arrests for:
  • Possession of false I.D.,
  • Grand larceny auto, and
  • Resisting a Police Officer.

Manhunt Monday - Lotoa Toalepai


In the early morning hours of April 1, 2010, Metro Police say Lotoa Toalepai became involved in a violent domestic dispute with his girlfriend, and mother of three of his children, in their apartment in the southwest part of Las Vegas. The argument continued for several hours, with Toalepai physically attacking her several times. During one of the attacks police say Toalepai stole money and other items from his victims purse. Neighbors heard her screams for help and called the police, however Toalepai fled the residence before the arrival of officers.

Because of this latest crime Lotoa Toalepai is currently wanted for:
  • Battery, domestic violence and,
  • Larceny from a person.
Lotoa Toalepai is a Pacific Islander male adult, 29 years of age, standing 5'10" tall and weighing approximately 200 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address was an apartment in the 4500 block of South Durango Drive in Southwest Las Vegas.

Toalepai has numerous tattoos including:
  • A picture of a clown bracketed by the words “COMPTON” and “TOALEPAI” on his right bicep,
  • The word “SAMAO” on his upper left arm,
  • The word “TOALEPI” on his right forearm,
  • The word “PRIDE” on his upper right arm,
  • The initials “HP” on his left forearm,
  • A picture of a tribal band on his left arm, and
  • The words “MOM /DAD” on his right arm.

Toalepai has a long and violent criminal history, including arrests for:
  • Possession of a controlled substance,
  • Obstructing a police officer
  • Multiple arrests for battery, domestic violence,
  • Harassment,
  • Resisting a police officer,
  • Multiple arrests for possession of narcotics paraphernalia,
  • Possession of false I.D.,
  • Multiple arrests for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and other narcotics related crimes,
  • Intimidating a police officer,
  • Possession of a credit card without consent,
  • Resisting arrest,
  • Numerous traffic related offenses,
  • Possession of an unregistered firearm, and
  • Child abuse.

Metro seeks sexual assault suspect

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Detail is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the person in this sketch. In the early morning hours on May 30, 2010, in the Downtown area of the valley, an adult female was the victim of sexual assault when she was assaulted by a Hispanic Male Adult. The suspect was described as 24-26 years old, 5’10”-6’0”, brown hair, brown eyes, last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, dark blue jeans and a blue bandana on his head. The suspect had very distinct braids down the middle of his back, was clean shaven and had diamond earrings in both ears.
