The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section is investigating a murder and attempted murder which occurred at apartments located in the 3800 block of Wynn Road. On September 19th, 2010 at 12:25 a.m., a group of males were walking on Viking Road, west of Wynn Road when they were approached by two male suspects asking about a party. A short time later the suspects confronted the group a second time. At this time one of the suspects produced a firearm and began shooting, striking a 19 year old male and an unarmed security guard. The security guard suffered non life threatening injuries. The 19 year old male expired from his wounds.
The suspects are described as two black males, 16-20 years of age, wearing red clothing. Metro and Clark County to Provide Resources for Safe Summer Fun
The school year is almost over and Metro is encouraging parents to start planning summer activities for their children.
On Thursday, May 6, 2010, Metro’s Enterprise Area Command, numerous County agencies, and County Commissioner Susan Brager will present Summer Fun and Safety Night. The event will take place at Desert Breeze Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Road, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
This event is intended to provide parents with information on a variety of summer activities for their children. There will be numerous hands-on demonstrations, as well as information about local summer camps, programs, and activities.
Organizations providing information at the event are: Clark County Parks and Recreation, Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas, Opportunity Village, Nevada PEP, S.A.F.E. House, Fencing Academy of Nevada, Las Vegas Robotics Camp, Mad Science of Las Vegas, Invent Now Kids, and Kempo Self Defense Institute. There will also be presentations on crime prevention, personal safety and water safety.
WingStop Restaurants will provide food at the event (while supplies last).
Please come out to meet those who help keep our community safe.

New Hours for Metro Area Command Offices
Effective Saturday, March 6, 2010, all eight Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department substations will have new business hours. While still providing a high level of service to the public, these new business hours reflect Metro’s efforts to reduce expenses.
Downtown Area Command’s front office will be closed to the public, however, residents can file reports at the City Hall Plaza Desk. The address of City Hall is 400 East Stewart Avenue, at Las Vegas Blvd. Residents are advised that weapons registrations are not conducted at City hall Plaza Desk. Hours at the City Hall Plaza Desk are 6am to 11pm. Residents can file reports and register weapons at Bolden Area Command. The Bolden Area Command is located at 1851 Stella Lake Street, Las Vegas Nevada, 89106.

This meeting is an opportunity for businesses in the Southwest to exchange information on criminal and suspicious activity with each other and with law enforcement. It is also an opportunity for business and security personnel to receive free training on crime prevention methods.
This group’s initial goal was to improve security in and around the Tropicana Corridor by reducing business crime through networking business owners, managers, and staff. Since then the membership has grown and expands over the entire Enterprise Area Command jurisdiction.
The Business Crime Watch program offers the opportunity to share information and increase awareness in the business community. It provides an easy way for businesses to report suspicious activity observed by watchful staff and the potential to provide cost-effective solutions on a shared basis.
Attendance is limited to commercial and retail businesses and their security staff. This is free to attend, however a RSVP is required.
