New Hours for Metro Area Command Offices

Effective Saturday, March 6, 2010, all eight Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department substations will have new business hours. While still providing a high level of service to the public, these new business hours reflect Metro’s efforts to reduce expenses.

Downtown Area Command’s front office will be closed to the public, however, residents can file reports at the City Hall Plaza Desk. The address of City Hall is 400 East Stewart Avenue, at Las Vegas Blvd. Residents are advised that weapons registrations are not conducted at City hall Plaza Desk. Hours at the City Hall Plaza Desk are 6am to 11pm. Residents can file reports and register weapons at Bolden Area Command. The Bolden Area Command is located at 1851 Stella Lake Street, Las Vegas Nevada, 89106.

Northwest Area Command
New hours
Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

South Central, Southeast, Northeast, Enterprise, Bolden and Convention Center Area Commands
New hours
Mon – Fri 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Closed weekends

Crime by the Numbers: SEAC Home Invasions

There have been 24 home invasion robberies in Metro's South East Area Command so far in 2009. Right now, Captain David O'Leary and his officers are coming up with a plan to target that crime in the new year. He spoke with Crime Tracker 3's Sophia Choi about home invasion robberies.

Crime by the Numbers: Metro South East

Metro's South East Area command saw 20 of the 108 homicides so far this year in Metro's jurisdiction. The homicide rate there is up 54% from last year. That's the highest rate of increase in all of Metro. Overall, Metro's homicides are down a little more than nine percent.
Sophia Choi talked to Captain David O'Leary about homicides, and how he and his officers are working to reduce their frequency.
