METRO MOUNTED UNIT TO HOST FIFTH ANNUAL COMPETITION
Friends of Metro's Mounted Unit, a non-profit organization which assists Metro’s Mounted Patrol Officers, is holding a fund raising "Obstacle Course" competition on Saturday, March 27th, 2010, beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Main Arena at Horseman's Park. Horseman's Park is located at 5800 E. Flamingo, which is the far East end of Flamingo Road, next to the Sanitation District facilities.
This competition is for civilian riders who want to compete against each other using their own horses on the timed obstacle course utilized by L.V.M.P.D. officers to train METRO's mounted teams. Horse and rider team registration begins at 7:30 A.M.
Entry fees for competitors are :
- 14 yoa and under - $45.00
- 15 yoa and over - $50.00
All paid participants will receive a $10.00 off coupon to be used at the T-shirt booth, and trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners in each age group.
The event is FREE TO SPECTATORS.
It is anticipated the days events, which will include a demonstration by METRO’s K-9 Unit, will conclude at approximately 4:00 P.M. The K-9 demonstration will begin at approximately 12:00 p.m. Additionally, a micro-chip clinic for horses will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.. The cost of the microchip will be $35.00, which includes the microchip registration fee.
Texas Barbeque will be on hand to provide food and drinks for purchase throughout the day, and various prizes will be continuously raffled off to assist in the fund rasing efforts.
